Terms

These terms apply to all orders placed through beamcalculationsonline.co.uk. Beam Calculations Online is a trading name of AM Structural Consultancy Ltd, registered in England & Wales no. 10522417, Floors 1–3, 4–5 High Town, Hereford HR1 2AA. By placing an order you accept these terms.

1. The service

  1. We prepare structural calculations and sketch details for the elements you order, from drawings you supply. We do not visit the site.
  2. Calculations are prepared to support a Building Regulations application. Full working or construction drawings are not included unless agreed in writing.
  3. We rely on the drawings and information you supply being accurate and complete. We are not responsible for errors in them, or for site conditions that differ from them.
  4. Drawings must be produced by an architect or technician, dimensioned and to scale. We may decline an order where the information is not sufficient.

2. The calculations

  1. We are responsible only for the structural elements listed in your order. We do not check any other part of the building.
  2. We carry out the work with reasonable skill, care and diligence, to Eurocodes (with UK National Annexes) or British Standards, as appropriate to the project.
  3. Calculations are delivered as a PDF by email, usually within 5 working days of payment and receipt of complete information.
  4. We answer reasonable Building Control queries at no extra cost. Requests that could not reasonably have been foreseen, or for calculations on other parts of the building, are a new order.
  5. Changes to the design after it is issued, including changes to layout, loads or materials, are a new order.
  6. Where the design relies on an assumption (for example existing foundations or the condition of hidden structure), we state it in the calculations. The builder must check it on site and tell us if it differs.

3. Fees and payment

  1. Prices are as shown on our website or confirmed to you in writing. We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added.
  2. Payment is due in full before work starts.
  3. Urgent work (issued within 48 hours) carries a 25% surcharge, where we can accept it.

4. Cancellation

  1. You may cancel before work starts and receive a full refund, less a £25 administration fee.
  2. Once work has started, the fee is not refundable, because each design is prepared specifically for your project.
  3. If we cannot complete the work, we will tell you why and refund any fee for work not done.

5. Liability, copyright and use

  1. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount of our professional indemnity insurance, currently £1,000,000, with Hiscox Insurance Company Limited.
  2. We keep the copyright in our calculations. You may use them, free of charge, for the project they were ordered for. Use on any other project needs our written permission, and we accept no responsibility for such use.
  3. The calculations are for you, your professional advisers, Building Control or the approved inspector, and your builder.
  4. Building work must not start until the design has been approved by Building Control or the approved inspector, where approval is required.
  5. We do not act as Principal Designer or Principal Contractor under the Building Safety Act 2022 or the CDM Regulations 2015.
